SBA opens $6M competition to modernize Women's Business Centers in 8 states

On July 21, 2026 the SBA announced a national competition for $6 million to fund a Women's Business Center Modernization Initiative, creating State Lead Centers and local Service Centers. It targets states where WBC funding lagged: Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Wyoming and the US Virgin Islands (proposals were due Aug 10, 2026).

Why this matters for founders

Women founders in those eight states should tap the expanded WBC network for free counseling, training and access-to-capital help as the modernized centers stand up.
