Blackbird raises AUD $1.05 billion for the largest ANZ venture fund

On 25 August 2026 Blackbird closed its sixth fund at AUD $1.05 billion, the largest VC raise in Australia and New Zealand, lifting total assets under management above AUD $12.5 billion. The firm makes 96% of its initial investments at pre-seed and seed stage, backing founders before revenue or product, with LPs including the Future Fund, Hostplus, Aware Super and HESTA.

Why this matters for founders

Early-stage Australian founders now face a materially deeper pre-seed/seed capital pool; those raising a first round should target Blackbird and warm up the intro path given the fund's stated before-revenue, before-product mandate.
