CanExport SMEs 2026-27: up to $50K export grant, tighter eligibility, Aug 31 deadline

For 2026-27, Canada's CanExport SMEs program offers up to $50,000 per project to help SMEs enter new international markets, with roughly $31 million available and only about $3.1 million reserved for U.S.-targeted projects. Minimum eligibility rose to 3 full-time employees and $300,000 in annual revenue (up from 1 FTE and $100,000), and applicants must now choose either U.S. or non-U.S. markets. The current call deadline was extended to August 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET.

Why this matters for founders

A Canadian founder planning to expand abroad should confirm they meet the new 3-employee/$300K-revenue bar and apply through the Trade Commissioner Service before the August 31, 2026 deadline, prioritizing a non-U.S. target market where ~90% of the budget sits.
