RBI names Unified Fintech Forum as India's 2nd fintech self-regulator

On 10 September 2026 the Reserve Bank of India recognised the Unified Fintech Forum (UFF), formerly the Digital Lenders Association of India, as the second self-regulatory organisation for the fintech sector (SRO-FT), after FACE was approved in August 2024. UFF had 118 members as of June 2026, spanning regulated and unregulated fintechs, NBFCs and payment gateways. SROs set and enforce industry standards, promote ethical practices, and facilitate dispute resolution.

Why this matters for founders

Fintech founders, especially in digital lending and payments, can now join UFF (or FACE) to shape industry standards, get an early read on RBI expectations, and access a formal dispute and compliance channel before rules become mandatory.
