SEBI angel funds must onboard only accredited investors by Sept 8, 2026

Under SEBI's revised AIF framework, angel funds registered before September 10, 2025 have until September 8, 2026 to onboard only Accredited Investors, and may keep at most 200 non-accredited investors during the transition. Every angel fund must also secure a minimum of five Accredited Investors before declaring its first close, which existing funds must do on or before September 8, 2026.

Why this matters for founders

If you're raising an angel round through a SEBI-registered angel fund, confirm now that the fund is accredited-investor compliant before the September 8, 2026 cutoff, or a non-compliant fund may be unable to accept fresh contributions to back your deal.
