Under CGSN Resolution No. 189/2026 (published in the Official Gazette on April 28, 2026), all microenterprises and small businesses in Simples Nacional must issue their service invoices exclusively through the national NFS-e Emissor Nacional starting September 1, 2026. Companies can issue via the free web portal at gov.br/nfse (login with a gov.br account) or through ERP software integrated by API to the national SEFIN service; the documents carry nationwide validity.
Brazil requires national NFS-e emitter for Simples Nacional firms from Sept 1, 2026
Any Brazil founder on Simples Nacional selling services should stop using their old municipal invoice system and register on gov.br/nfse now, or wire the national NFS-e API into their billing/ERP stack before invoicing again.
