Digital iXBRL annual reports become mandatory for all Swedish ABs from FY2026

Digital iXBRL annual reports become mandatory for all Swedish ABs from FY2026

For financial years starting after 31 December 2025, all Swedish limited companies (aktiebolag) must file their annual report digitally in iXBRL format via Bolagsverket; paper and PDF filings are no longer accepted. This affects roughly 587,000 companies on K2/K3 standards, with the first mandatory digital filings falling due in 2027 for the 2026 financial year.

Why this matters for founders

Any Swedish founder running an AB should confirm their accounting software or bookkeeper supports iXBRL/Bolagsverket digital submission before the 2026 year-end close, so the first filing in 2027 goes through without penalty.
