DPIIT releases Tax Playbook consolidating all startup tax benefits into one guide

In May 2026 DPIIT published a 'Tax Playbook for the Startup Ecosystem' on startupindia.gov.in, pulling every startup tax break into one guide as India's recognised startup base crossed 2.23 lakh. It details the Section 80-IAC 3-year income-tax holiday (now open to startups incorporated up to 31 March 2030), the angel tax abolished for all investors from FY2025-26, ₹50 lakh seed-fund grants, and an 80% patent fee rebate. It follows the 4 February 2026 DPIIT notification that doubled the recognition turnover limit to ₹200 crore.

Why this matters for founders

A DPIIT-recognised founder should download the free Playbook and file for the 80-IAC exemption via the Inter-Ministerial Board to claim three tax-free years, while confirming eligibility under the relaxed February 2026 rules.
