NJ angel investor tax credit jumps to 35% (up to 40%) for 2026 applications

For qualified investments in New Jersey emerging-technology startups submitted after Dec 31, 2025, the NJEDA Angel Investor Tax Credit rises from 20% to 35% of the investment, and up to 40% for businesses in low-income communities or certified minority/women-owned. Investors can claim up to $500,000, within a $35M annual program cap.

Why this matters for founders

NJ founders raising angel rounds can pitch a sweeter incentive: an in-state investor now recovers 35-40% of their check as a state tax credit, making a close easier.
