NZ Active Investor Plus visa pipeline hits NZ$4.9b; Growth path stays NZ$5m

As of Immigration NZ's 4 September 2026 update, the revamped Active Investor Plus (AIP) visa has drawn 904 applications (467 approved) since the April 2025 changes, with about NZ$4.935 billion in combined committed capital and pipeline (NZ$2.72b committed, NZ$2.215b in progress). The Growth category alone drew 772 applications and requires a minimum NZ$5 million invested for at least 3 years into NZ businesses or managed funds; August 2026 clarifications tightened rules on borrowed, gifted, and transferred funds.

Why this matters for founders

Founders raising capital should get in front of the AIP-aligned managed funds and VCs where Growth-category migrants must park their NZ$5m plus, since 772 such applicants are seeking qualifying NZ businesses to back. Pitch fund managers who hold AIP mandates rather than chasing the investors directly.
