From 1 June 2026, a non-EU/EEA worker's salary must equal at least 90% of Sweden's median salary (up from the previous 80%), which secondary sources put at roughly SEK 33,390/month against a median of about SEK 37,100. Employers must also ensure comprehensive health insurance and terms matching Swedish collective agreements. Around twenty exempted occupations only need to meet 75% of the median instead.
Sweden's new work permit salary rule now in force: 90% of median wage
Founders hiring non-EU/EEA talent must now budget at least ~SEK 33,390/month plus comprehensive health insurance per permit hire, or check whether their role sits on the ~20 exempted occupations that qualify at 75% of median.
