Virginia Catalyst awards $2.4M to three university-partnered biomedical startups

On July 30, 2026, Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced $2.4 million in Virginia Catalyst grants — $800,000 each to Pascal Medical, Perfusion Medical and Sonogen Medical for university-partnered commercialization. It was the program's 19th round; its 75 grants ($40M total) have driven roughly $700M in follow-on funding.

Why this matters for founders

Virginia life-sciences founders working with state universities can apply in future Virginia Catalyst rounds for up to $800k in non-dilutive commercialization funding.
