WhatsApp remittance startup Felix raises $200M to expand into finance

Miami-based Felix, a WhatsApp- and stablecoin-based remittance platform for Latino immigrants, announced a $200 million Series C co-led by a16z ($87M equity) and General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund ($113M debt). Founded in 2020, Felix has processed over $8 billion in remittances and now plans lending, savings, and an AI financial assistant across Latin America.

Why this matters for founders

Fintech founders can read Felix's structure as a template: split equity-plus-debt rounds to fund lending, and use messaging apps plus stablecoin rails to reach underbanked cross-border users.
