DPIIT Gazette Notification G.S.R. 108(E) dated 4 February 2026 supersedes the 2019 framework, raising the annual turnover ceiling for recognised startups from Rs 100 crore to Rs 200 crore. It creates a first-ever Deep Tech Startup category with a Rs 300 crore turnover limit and a 20-year recognition window (versus 10 years for regular startups), and extends eligibility to cooperative and multi-state cooperative societies.
DPIIT redefines startups: turnover cap doubled to Rs 200 crore, new deep tech class
Founders previously past the old Rs 100 crore or 10-year limits should re-check Startup India recognition, and R&D-heavy or IP-owning companies should apply under the new deep tech track to unlock the longer 20-year benefit window and tax exemptions.
