MAS unveils fund management tax exemption and new hedge fund programme

On 19 August 2026, MAS announced three measures to boost Singapore as an asset management hub: a tax exemption on profit-related returns from fund management services provided to qualifying funds, effective from Year of Assessment 2027; a new Hedge Fund Investment Programme to attract and retain global and regional managers; and an Investment Management Track under the ONE Pass framework for senior investment professionals. The tax exemption covers corporate entities, partnerships, and individuals receiving profit shares for fund management services.

Why this matters for founders

Fintech and fund-management founders should time entity setup and carry/performance-fee structuring to capture the YA 2027 exemption, and consider the ONE Pass Investment Management Track to bring senior hires in on performance-linked pay.
