From January 2026, new rules require mandated government agencies (over 100 agencies) to pay 95% of eInvoices within 5 business days and other domestic trade invoices within 10 days, with quarterly payment-time reporting published to MBIE. Over 52,000 NZ businesses are already registered for eInvoicing, a 400% jump over 24 months.

A NZ founder selling to any government agency should register for eInvoicing (via their accounting software's PEPPOL connection) to get paid in ~5 days instead of chasing invoices, materially improving early-stage cash flow.
