Govt mandates all CPSEs to settle MSME invoices via RBI's TReDS platforms

On June 30, 2026, the Ministry of MSME notified revised guidelines requiring all operating Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) to onboard RBI-regulated TReDS platforms and settle MSME supplier invoices through them, plus disclose invoice details on RBI-specified forms and obtain auditor certificates. Invoice financing on TReDS has already grown from about Rs 40,000 crore in FY22 to Rs 3.47 lakh crore in FY26. Discounting of the invoices remains optional for the MSME supplier.

Why this matters for founders

If your startup is a Udyam-registered MSME selling goods or services to any public-sector enterprise, register on a TReDS platform (RXIL, M1xchange or Invoicemart) so those invoices route through it—unlocking guaranteed routing and optional early payment (invoice discounting) instead of waiting on delayed CPSE payments.
