On September 8, 2026 OpenAI released GPT Image 2.5, exposing two developer APIs: Flare, its fastest model generating high-quality images at two to four times the speed of GPT-Image-2, and Sunburst for precision work. Both cost $8.00 per 1M image input tokens and $30.00 per 1M output tokens, with latency down up to 50% versus Images 2.0.
For any product that generates images, switch high-volume flows to Flare for speed and reserve Sunburst for polished marketing or product shots, at the same token price.
