RBC launches $1.4B CAD RBCx growth fund for scaling Canadian tech firms

On September 9, 2026, Royal Bank of Canada unveiled a new $1-billion USD (about $1.4-billion CAD) RBCx growth fund to make direct equity investments in growth-stage Canadian tech companies. RBC is committing up to $300-million USD ($416-million CAD) of its own capital, with the rest raised from third-party limited partners. Target sectors include applied-AI enterprise software, cybersecurity, healthtech, cleantech, AgTech, and frontier tech such as aerospace, defence, and quantum.

Why this matters for founders

Growth-stage Canadian founders in these sectors should get on RBCx's radar now (via Sid Paquette's team) since the fund targets scaleups with global potential and offers commercialization and partnership support beyond just capital.
