SBA 7(a) Working Capital Pilot offers monitored credit lines up to $5M

The SBA's 7(a) Working Capital Pilot (WCP) provides government-backed monitored lines of credit up to $5,000,000, with interest charged only when the line is drawn. As of February 2026 the program had delivered more than $150M in lending, and the SBA has recently highlighted it for manufacturers and homebuilders. Borrowers generally need 12 full months of operating history and must supply timely financial statements and A/R, A/P, and inventory reporting.

Why this matters for founders

If your startup has at least a year of operations and lumpy cash flow, ask an SBA lender about a WCP line of credit so you pay interest only on what you draw instead of carrying a full term loan.
