SBA doubles combined 7(a)+504 borrowing cap to $10 million from July 4

Effective July 4, 2026 (announced July 7), the SBA doubled the combined limit for businesses using both flagship loan programs: up to $5M through 7(a) and up to $5M through 504, for a combined $10M in SBA-backed financing, versus the prior $5M cap.

Why this matters for founders

Capital-intensive small businesses can now stack 7(a) working-capital and 504 real-estate/equipment loans to reach $10M; talk to an SBA-preferred lender about splitting a larger financing need across both.
