Singapore raises EFS loan risk-share to 70% for SMEs from Sept 2026

Singapore raises EFS loan risk-share to 70% for SMEs from Sept 2026

On 29 July 2026, Singapore's MOF announced a second support package raising the government's risk-share from 50% to 70% on the Enterprise Financing Scheme SME Working Capital Loan and Project Loan, effective 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. The Project Loan was also expanded to cover domestic construction projects, and firms get a one-off SME Cash Grant of S$500 per local employee (capped at S$2,500 per company).

Why this matters for founders

Founders needing working capital should time loan applications to the 1 Sept 2026 to 31 March 2027 window, when the higher 70% government risk-share makes participating banks more willing to lend and improves approval odds.
