Companies House director ID verification now mandatory ahead of Nov 2026 deadline

Identity verification at Companies House became a legal requirement on 18 November 2025 for all new directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs). Existing directors and PSCs (an estimated 6-7 million people) must verify by their company's next confirmation statement, with a final backstop of 18 November 2026; continuing to act as an unverified director after your deadline is a criminal offence and blocks your confirmation statement filing.

Why this matters for founders

Verify now via GOV.UK One Login to get your Companies House personal code before your confirmation statement falls due - you only verify once and it covers every directorship you hold.
