UK directors must verify identity at Companies House by 18 November 2026

Identity verification became a legal requirement on 18 November 2025 for new incorporations and director/PSC appointments. Existing directors and persons with significant control have a 12-month transition ending 18 November 2026 to verify, providing their personal code when filing their next confirmation statement. Continuing to act as an unverified director after the deadline is a criminal offence that can lead to fines, refusal of filings, and a public note against your name on the register.

Why this matters for founders

Every UK company founder who is a director or PSC should get a GOV.UK One Login personal code and verify now, well before their next confirmation statement falls due, to avoid penalties and blocked filings.
